マグナムのメンバーとして初めて日本を訪れたワーナー・ビショフ。38 年間の短い生涯の約一年間を日本で滞在し、報道写真家としての鋭い視線と芸術家としての美意識を合わせ持った多くの写真作品で、戦後の復興期の新しい時代に突き進む日本の姿を伝えた。
Swiss photographer Werner Bischof was one of the greatest photographers of his time, he had a close relationship to Japan and produced work that reflects daily life in post war Japan. This exhibition coincides with the 150th Anniversary of relations between Switzerland and Japan.
