はじめに
この度、2014年4月18日から5月11日までの第2回『KYOTOGRAPHIE国際写真フェスティバル』の開催をお知らせします。KYOTOGRAPHIE国際写真フェスティバルは、日本では数少ない国際レベルの写真イベントとして、京都が最も美しい春の観光シーズン最盛期に約3週間にわたって行われます。フェスティバルは、世界が憧れる日本の古都を舞台に、伝統文化と現代アートを結びつけます。あらゆる年齢層、国籍、文化的背景を持った人々が混じり合って芸術文化を楽しむことが出来る場として、京都に新たな彩りをもたらそうとする試みです。
ビジョン
写真表現への理解を深め、日本人写真家の活動がより広く世界に認知される国際的なプラットフォームの構築を目指します。一方で、パブリックプログラムや国際レベルの展覧会を通じて、訪れた人々が写真への距離をより身近に感じ、造詣を深めていくことを目指します。
主な展覧会
KYOTOGRAPHIE第一回を飾ったのは、12の印象的な展覧会でした。展覧会場には京都独自の歴史、文化、自然の多様さを反映する場所を選び、参加アーティストにはさまざまな経歴や写真の表現方法を持つ者が集まり、それぞれの個性を最大限に活かした展覧会が繰り広げられました。そして、空間演出とアーティスト作品の相乗効果により鑑賞者の写真体験がより素晴らしいものになるように努めました。

プログラム
本フェスティバルのイベントおよびプログラムは、フェスティバルの多様性や学問・芸術分野の協力者が持つ専門性を表します。従って、プログラムは公共的そして文化的なアピールにおいて非常に豊かなものになりました。KYOTOGRAPHIEのイベントは、連携や、様々なプログラムなどの多面的なアプローチによって、人々が新しいネットワークを作ったり、写真という媒体について対話や評価したりすることを目的として取り組みました。
パブリックプログラムと教育
KYOTOGRAPHIE のパブリックプログラムは、主に媒体としての写真の魅力を、参加型形式などによって理解することに重点を置きました。各々のプログラムは事前の細かい計画作りと、主要となったパフォーマーや写真家の方々によるアーティスティックな協力によって実現しました。

サテライトイベントKG+
展覧会と同時に、50以上の有望なアーティストを支援するサテライト・プログラム「KG+」を実施しました。KG+の展覧会は市内のあらゆるギャラリーやカフェにて開催されました。
Introduction
KYOTOGRAPHIE International Photography Festival blossoms in Kyoto for its second year in April 2014. This high-end photographic event runs for over three weeks during the height of Kyotoʼs booming tourist season. The festival celebrates art and culture, bringing a distinct dimension to the historic city. KYOTOGRAPHIE creates opportunities and events that bring people together of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds. Situated in Kyotoʼs world-class atmosphere KYOTOGRAPHIE unites ancient history and contemporary art.
Vision
KYOTOGRAPHIE aims to foster an appreciation of photography as a medium and art form. We actively seek innovation in audience and artist engagement, and bring opportunitiesʼ for professional development, collaboration and self-expression. We strive to educate through our Public Program and excellent exhibitions. We inspire a greater appreciation and understanding of visual art, combining traditional architecture and contemporary art.
Outstanding Exhibitions
Twelve outstanding exhibitions made up KYOTOGRAPHIEʼs premier edition. These major exhibitions were presented in various sites, reflecting Kyoto Cityʼs diverse architectural, cultural, and natural history. Participating artists were from a diverse background and photographic practice and were matched to venues that would enhance the visitor experience, while complementing the site and the artist.

Programming
The events and programs reflected the festivals diversity and its many academic and artistic contributors. Our program was rich in public and cultural appeal. KYOTOGRAPHIEʼs events created new networks of people, discussion and appreciation through the medium; this was achieved through collaboration, programming and a multifaceted approach.
Public Programs and Education
KYOTOGRAPHIEʼs Public Program primarily focused on enhancing the mediums appeal and understanding through education and interactivity. A successful program was realized through careful planning and rich cultural and artistic contributions by the key performers and photographers.

KG+ Satellite exhibitions
